Metal Shed FAQ’s
Where should I put my Metal Shed? +
How big the area where the shed is going will obviously determine the amount of available space for your new shed. From what our customers tell us, whatever size of free space that you have, having a shed to fill it will mean that you will use up all of that space. We offer a large variety of products and we will be able to provide you with the best product for your needs. Consider somewhere sheltered from the elements and try not to have the entrance facing South/South Westerly to avoid the winds. Ensure to consider the future growth of nearby trees/shrubs.
What surface can my Metal Shed go on? +
You can easily position your metal shed directly on to your back garden if it is concreted, has astro turn or tarmacadam, a concrete base or paving slabs. Choose a level, square area with good drainage for the storage building. The base is not included in the kit, and you may need to purchase it separately or construct your own foundation and anchoring system. The foundation should be at least 10 cm larger than the base rail of the shed, with a minimum 10 cm thick concrete slab recommended.
Do I require planning permission in Ireland for my Metal Shed? +
As it is a portable item, in general, you should not need to get planning permission.. However, if you are unsure, please seek legal advice. Most local authorities will allow homeowners to add a shed to their property but you must check regulatory boundaries.
Do I need to put anything underneath the Metal Shed to stop dampness? +
To reduce rising dampness from the soil and minimise condensation build-up in the metal shed place a strong plastic sheet (at least 150μm thick) under the foundation. The shed should be securely anchored to prevent wind damage. Once anchored, it is highly recommended to apply silicone along the inside of the base rail to help reduce condensation.

Why Choose a Metal Shed?

Owning a metal shed offers numerous benefits that make it an excellent choice for homeowners seeking durable, secure, and versatile storage solutions. One of the primary advantages of a metal garden shed is its durability. Unlike wooden sheds, metal structures are resistant to the elements, including rain, wind, and pests, such as termites.

Metal garden sheds also provide enhanced security, low maintenance, and customization options. Their strong construction helps protect your belongings, while their minimal upkeep requirements make them a practical choice. Additionally, metal sheds are often made from recyclable materials, making them an eco-friendly storage solution.
